Create a playlist

Play several projects back to back on your Kaptive Players with playlists.

A playlist plays several projects one after another. When the last project ends, the playlist starts again from the first one. You show a playlist on your Kaptive Players by adding it to the schedule.

  1. Click Playlists in the sidebar.
  2. Click New playlist.
  3. Enter a name and click Create.
  1. Open the playlist and click Add project.
  2. Search for a project and select it. It is added at the end of the playlist.

A project can only join a playlist when it is published and every page has a duration. You set a page’s duration with its transition in the Kaptive Editor. Projects that can’t be added are greyed out with the reason, for example Not published yet or Some pages have no duration.

You can also add a project to playlists from the Kaptive Editor. Click Assign, then Playlists. Read more in Assign your project.

Drag a project by its handle to change the order. Projects play from top to bottom.

Open the menu next to a project for more options:

  • One page per round: instead of playing all its pages, the project shows its next page each time the playlist loops. This option is available for projects with more than one page.
  • Remove from playlist: removes the project from the playlist.
  1. Open the schedule and click and drag over a time range in the calendar.
  2. Switch the content type to Playlist and select your playlist.
  3. Under Assign players, select the players, then click Add entry.
  4. Publish the schedule.

A playlist can’t be set as the default project of a player. Read more in Schedule your project.

Changes to a playlist are a draft until you publish them. Click Publish on the playlist page to update the players that play it from the published schedule. Other schedule changes are not published.

To discard your changes, use Revert to go back to the published version.

Open the menu of a playlist in the list or on its page and select Rename or Delete playlist. Deleting a playlist also deletes the schedule entries that play it.
